My passion for hypnosis actually arose out of skepticism. Like many, I was not sure if it really worked. However, I was curious.
After a bit of research, I found a rather surprising amount of research supporting it. While it seemed too good to be true, hypnosis has been used for various purposes for hundreds of years, including a rich and notable history in surgery, including the use of hypnosis as the sole anesthesia in major surgery such as open heart surgery. More recently, neuroscience has provided more insight into how the brain works, as well as how hypnosis can help change how the brain functions.
Since my initial research into hypnosis, I have read a lot, researched hypnosis and neurology, taken classes on hypnosis and NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), and earned my Integrative Life Coaching certificate from Melissa Tiers’ Center for Integrative Hypnosis, located in New York. My learning has focused on the history and the classic hypnotists, as well as modern day hypnotists and the advances made in the field. My goal is to always keep learning and incorporate what is most appropriate to the client in front of me from the complete history of the field.
